Escuela Delengua

The classes were small, and the teacher was very engaging. The other students were fun, and the level was correct for all of us. The location is excellent, with a fabulous coffee shop nearby! The only downside was that it rained all week, and it was a short week due to a public holiday. This meant that there was really only one activity in the afternoon, and not much opportunity to interact with the other students.

I'll start with the good stuff. The school is in a great location, in the central area of Granada, in a lovely, well-maintained building. And I can't say enough about my first teacher, Laura. I had daily one-on-one lessons with her. She was always completely engaged, and patient (I'm not a fast learner). Her explanations of Spanish grammar and idioms were always easy to understand, and to-the-point, and she thoughtfully brought study material to the classes based on what we'd worked on the day before. If anyone wants to study at Escuela Delengua - ask for Laura!

My only reservation with Escuela Delengua is that they seemed disorganized in terms of administration. I signed up in advance, on-line, and paid for three weeks of private lessons... A few days later I got a message saying that they were looking to see if a teacher was available, even though they'd already taken my payment... It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I got confirmation that a teacher was available. So in the interim I didn't know if I should cancel and try to get my money back and book with another school... And, two weeks into my lessons, I suddenly got an email saying that from the next day on I'd be seeing a different teacher - who wasn't nearly as good.

Still - I think it's a good school.

The various backgrounds of students made this learning experience very special. Our teacher was very good and fun at the same time. Location of the school in the historic centre bring it up to the next level.

The school teaching concept is very good. It is optimally geared to the needs of the students and it is designed to be active and varied. The leisure activities are extensive and good. There is something for everyone.

The school is very well organized and always helpful when problems arise.

The four weeks I spent at Escuela Delengua were intellectually challenging, with a positive and supportive learning environment throughout. My instructor (Maria Jose) was very professional and helpful, speaking slowly and being animated to provide different methods (aurally and visually) for understanding. The course content followed a logical and coherent progression, and included a variety of teaching/learning tools. The course administration ran smoothly, the small class size was ideal for individual attention and encouraged student interaction. The school's facilities were comfortable with large and bright class rooms. The optional cultural activities outside of class were an enjoyable supplement to classroom learning. Escuela Delengua is conveniently located in central Granada. I did not stay in school housing.

Die Schule liegt mitten in der Stadt ca 10min zu Fuß entfernt von einem wunderbaren Aussichtspunkt mit Blick auf die Alhambra. Meine Tochter und ich hatten Einzelunterricht, so dass wir viel sprechen konnten. Die Lehrerinnen waren sehr nett und wir haben viel dazu gelernt. Die Stimmung dort ist sehr nett. Es werden u.a. auch Kochkurse und Ausflüge organisiert.

I stayed in Granada at Escuela Delengua for a month and I can say that my Spanish has improved dramatically! Great teachers who are willing to help, patient and kind regardless of your struggles and skills! The activities planned help to practice Spanish but also meet new people in a friendly environment. A brilliant way to improve language schools at a place that truly care about your process, your experience and you!

The location of Escuela Delengua in central Granada was perfect--on charming Arab streets, close to Gran Via and the cathedral; close to lovely walks and sightseeing in Albaicin, the Alhambra and the Generalife.

The classes were small and rigorous; the teachers expert and varied; the materials appropriate and demanding.

The facilities were charming, although I was surprised that they were rather low-tech. Rather than a computer console, screen and speakers in the classrooms, the teachers used their smart phones or laptops to audio or video materials.

The classes were very interactive and engaging (far more important than technology).

The extracurricular social and cultural activities were excellent. they ensured that all students had some social activities and were exposed to various aspects of Granada's incredibly rich cultural history, arts, and monuments.

My room in the building next to the school was charming and very comfortable--amazingly cool despite the summer heat.

I really enjoyed the course, the level was the right one and the teachers were amazing.

Great teacher, Maria worked really well with the group and how we wanted to learn. The activities are a pre, nice way to meet people and see Granada.

I enjoyed The classes as they were small and in-person. The material was a good challenge for my current level of Spanish proficiency. this should help with my progression to greater language proficiency. The instructor, Irene, was very good. She gave very good explanations of the uses of the subjunctive and was patient with the students. The location was in the center of Granada making it very convenient for me. I did not use the housing or do the activities as I was traveling with others.

Totally enjoyed my week at Escuela Delengua and in Granada.
The school was great with patient and helpful teachers and no pressure on the learning.
The activities arranged were fantastic and very topical. Got on very well with the other students.

The only downside was my shower curtain - had a battle with it every time I had a shower.....hahaha

I had the best time at Delengua. The school is lovely and very well located in the heart of Abaycin. I speak several languages and
have had many language teachers, but I was amazed at how good the teachers were at Delengua, specially Maria Jose.

We received new and interesting material every week and all my specific needs were met.

The school’s wonderful afternoon social/cultural activities were also a plus, and made my time at Granada even more special.

I absolutely recommend the school, and am already looking forward to going back there this January (2022).

I think I like it all. Teacher was good, location was great. The housing was basic but fine - and very good value for money.
Everyone was very friendly, I felt I learnt a lot and even the after school events (I had low expectations) turned out to be both fun and useful.

The classes were immersive which led to a rapid development of my Spanish fluency. The method of teaching is great, it includes a lot of talking and does not shy away from occasional amusing methods such as games or roleplay. All and all, a great school with good teachers.

I spent three weeks in January 2020 in Granada to study Spanish and take a walk. I loved the city! Granada is beautiful! Escola Delengua has everything we can expect from a good school: teachers committed to teaching and a great structure. It also offers guided tours by the teachers themselves. I will never forget the kind and friendly teachers, principal and secretaries. They were always ready to listen to me very patiently. They helped me a lot !!! My class was a gift, because my classmates were very nice. The class was very mixed with people from several countries. Teachers went out of their way to address such diverse doubts in different languages and succeeded. I stayed in a school apartment and loved my floormates. There were five of us, from four different countries, but we formed a family. We keep in touch today. I will never forget this experience!

I studied Spanish at Escuela Delengua for 5 weeks. I felt like at home from day one. The teachers were competent and friendly, and I met many nice people in the classes. The location of the school is perfect, right in the arabic neighbourhood Albaicin. Many cafes, tapas bars, and restaurants close by the school. I am already considering going back for few more weeks.

great learning atmosphere. Overall, my stay in Granada was one of my best life experiences. I recommend

The school is incredible. Teachers are very engaging and work with you to ensure you have a positive experience. They are very flexible allowing for changes and extensions to stays. The school provides after school activities every weekday. They are well attended and engaging to show you Granada and use the Spanish you are learning! Highly recommend accommodations were great as well.

I stayed a month in Escuela Delengua and it was worth it. My flat (rented to the school) was at one minute distance from the school, in the heart of Granada. Courses were interesting and my Spanish could progress easily week after week. Teachers are young and friendly, students come from all around the world. Delengua is a very interesting school to progress and discover Andalusia, in an international environment.

I appreciated that the teachers got right down to business; great instruction and well-focused lessons. The activities that I attended (informational walking tours) were fun and informative.

Fran were especially helpful in understanding culture, politics and regional differences. We were quite pleased
with our home stay. Maria is a great conversationalist and cook and accommodating to our wishes. Granada
Is cold this time of year and the apartment has no central heat so recommend warm clothes, PJ’s and sweaters.
The long talks with her (a lawyer practicing from home) really added a lot to improving our speaking ability.

The school was a lot better than I expected. The staff are really friendly and all of the teachers put so much effort into their jobs and they can't be thanked enough for it. The activities run through the school are very fun and I am glad I had this opportunity to study in Delengua.

I spent 4 weeks attending the intensive Spanish class at Delengua and I couldn't say enough good things about it! I am 28 years old and it was my first "language school experience". I appreciated the professionalism of the teachers and the efficient structure of the lessons (with both grammar and conversational skills, associated in a way that you practice efficiently what is taught).
The cultural aspect of Granada and Andalusia in general isn't left over. The teachers would organize everyday different activities directly related to Granada's life including visits (all in Spanish with regards to the level of each one), discovery of Spanish movies or art, Spanish food and also nice meetings between all the students that permits both bounding and practicing.
I was surprised to see that the students of the school form a very eclectic group with people of all ages and all backgrounds which ad to the nice ambiance of the lessons and meetings.

I would take some more courses in Delengua without any hesitation if I could!

I loved everything about Delengua! The teachers were so kind and patient and helped everyone feel at ease no matter their skill level. I chose to take private lessons in addition to the regular three hours of lessons and the combination of individual and group lessons helped me make major improvements in my Spanish abilities.

The school is located in the very central Albacyn area and it could not be better situated. The apartments that they assign to students are likewise perfectly situated in culturally interesting areas of the city. I was fortunate to have a single room in a shared apartment directly next door to the school, which was ideal, but I knew other students who were assigned rooms in the Realejo area that were also lovely. I also heard very positive things from the people who chose to live with host families as well.

I participated in the majority of the weekly activities organized through the school and they were great opportunities to explore places in the city I hadn't thought of visiting and to meet the new people at the school. People come and go from the school every week so the organized activities are the best (and sometimes only) way to meet the newly arrived students. Everyone at the school--students and teachers--are very laid back, so people of all ages, backgrounds, and language skill levels find a sense of belonging in the community that is Escuela Delengua.

The school administration, principal, students and the secretary working at the reception were very friendly, were always willing to answer any questions.
Upon arriving at the school I received an envelope with all the necessary information.
I liked the location of the school. It is located at the city center. The school is not big but very cozy, occupies three floors of the house and has a terrace and a patio.
Fran and Dani, they were excellent teachers. Taught how to live which was interesting. Every night there were activities or excursions. I stayed on the second floor of the school building. Accommodation was typical for students: some rooms and the common area, where the house rules was put up at the corner (equipped with appliances), three bathrooms.
Life was very funny. I met many students from different countries and citizens of Granada, we communicated only in Spanish. The experience was very useful. But spending only two weeks is not enough for a complete immersion. Also in the second week they joined two groups with different levels. Apart from that, I liked everything.

I was absolutely enthralled with the people, the facility, the schedule, the teaching, the city, the programs and the sheer fun of being a part of this community. As a total novice, I felt that I got a good grounding in the language but an EXPERIENCE of the culture, history, ambiance of Granada.

I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with the staff of Escuela Delengua. Everyone---from the secretaries to the director to the teachers---professional, positive, encouraging, helpful--and all of it with a delightful sense of humor.

At 67 years old, I was the "senior" in all the classes, outings, social events. But I never felt old!

In addition, I grew close to my host family and they to me. What a wonderful gift!

This experience has been one of the most memorable treasures of my life!

My favorite part about Delengua were the wonderful teachers. They were all so genuine and kind, and they took the time to get to know each student personally, even with new students every week. The class schedule worked very well, and there were activities at least 6 out of 7 days a week where you could explore Granada and get to know other students. Had I known I would love Delengua so much, I would have doubled my stay! I will definitely return and can highly recommend Escuela Delengua.

Escuela Delengua is located in the heart of Granada and all the teachers are all really open and helpful. Maybe among them there are some differences in the arrangement of courses, that, in my opinion, can be explained with their young age and different work or study experiences. What I liked more is that grammar lessons were followed by conversation courses that were a jump in the truly spoken Spanish, "Espanol de la calle". Maybe what I liked less were the different level of the students attending the same classes. In the end, thanks to the willingness of the teachers the role of the school didn't stop with the bell, since there were different extra activities planned for the afternoon and the night. Overall, my experience was really good.

I loved the city and the school! It's a small school and for me that's a positive thing because all the teachers know you. The classes are never bigger than 10 people; the biggest class I've been in was with 8 people. My classmates were really nice! It's really nice to meet so many different people from so many different countries and cultures! I booked the school for 12 weeks, that's quite a long time, so I met a lot of lovely people.
I really liked my teachers. They were really interested in you, and they really helped you all the time if you didn't get the grammar. I had 5 different teachers and, of course, I liked some more than others, but they were all really good in there job!

The classrooms are nice. Some are small, but if you're in a big class you will go to a bigger room. In school, you also have a library with books and movies you can use to improve your Spanish.
I also lived in school, in an apartment, and i loved it! It was really close to everything (of course school itself), but also the school is really in the center so that was really nice!

Every week the school organised different things to do. Monday is "siempre tapas" evening. Really nice. We go with a group for tapas and you get to know all the new students who arrived that weekend. There are activities during the week, too. It's different every week what the activities are. Sometimes it's visiting something in Granada like the Alhambra or viewing points, going to a movie or watch a movie in school, sports, etc. On the weekend, they normally organised bigger trips to cities like Sevilla and Córdoba. I did both of those trips and I really liked it! They take care of the drive and you have a good guide who shows you all the important stuff in that city. Sometimes (I think every 4-5 weeks or something like that), they organise a paella night! I loved that evening! The food was really good and there are always a lot of people. :)

What i didn't like.
I think I liked everything!! The school is really good, and they are really involved with how you're doing.
One thing that I found a little sad was that there were workers in the building next to the school, because they wanted to expand the school. The noise was a little bit irritating, and the workers sometimes came through the wall. I know they couldn't help it, but it was a just annoying.

I took a 2 week intensive Spanish course at Escuela Delengua and I absolutely loved the experience. It is located ideally right in the centre of Granada which meant it was so easy to access the city. Furthermore the city itself isn't too big or expensive so my trip was affordable and I felt safe to travel there alone. The school also helped me to find affordable accommodation which was no more than 10 minutes walk from the language school!

The classes were small and of course level based so I felt really challenged and I could spend more time interacting with my teachers and my classmates. Furthermore, the school had a brilliant family atmosphere and new students were welcomed every week. I got to make so many friends which was helped by the multitude of cultural activities arranged by Delengua such as trips to the Alhambra, evening events such as flamenco, tapas and salsa, and even longer weekend excursions to other cities within Andalusia such as Cordoba and Sevilla!

When I had finished my course, I had fallen in love with the city, had the experience of doing interesting cultural activities, and most importantly, I had a greater understanding and confidence to speak Spanish. I highly recommend an intensive language course to learn Spanish at Escuela Delengua!
