코스 개요

The main emphases of the GENERAL ESL program are communication and functional English for daily life. the average is 8 and the maximum is 15. IGK guarantees a very personalized, fast paced and dynamic approach to language learning The majority of students gain fluency in 24 weeks or less depending on their entry level. Students can study from 1 to 24 weeks.

AM
Six levels of Practical ESL are offered from Beginner to Advanced which focus on the combined skills of reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking. Students are placed according to their placement test scores on the first day of class and typically move up to the next level in 6 to 8 weeks. The maximum length of each level is 12 weeks. IGK uses a digitally enhanced curriculum. Students need to provide their own laptop computer, tablet or smart phone to access this curriculum.

PM
Students are placed in afternoon Conversation/Canadian Culture programs according to their placement test scores. PM classes focus on English for Everyday Life and Travel as well as listening, speaking and pronunciation. Field trips, presentations and group projects are incorporated into these programs to reinforce ‘real life’ language practice. EIKEN exam preparation is offered as an elective October and April for 8 weeks.

*This program is subject to a $25 per week material fee.
*Homework requirements vary with the level but students can expect 30 minutes to 1 hour of homework each day.
*There are weekly quizzes and tests to measure progress.
* All students are required to pay a $25 bank fee in addition to the other fees listed.

"I was expecting a little more."

The classes were in small groups in the winter season, I liked that. Just the half of the teachers are good, the other half they don’t know what are they doing. The location it’s really great, accesible and near to everything in downtown. They had few activities but each one were great. It’s a small school, so-so for ESL not for academic English.

Dear,
I would like to talk why my experience on International Gateway Kelowna wasn´t how I was waiting. I wanted to acquire more fluency, but I came back to Brazil disappointed. I don´t needed to have basics notions, as alphabet and vocabulary how animals names, etc. I would need to talk elementary phrases to quotidian. I liked to study with teens 16 years old, but I noted they levels was different, because the majority is from orient countries where the alphabet is very different. Well, I liked Gary and Carhie teachers and the staff too. All very, very professionals. I could needed to have more conversation, reading books, writing letters or texts. The method applied leave-me confused... I am a lawyer and I would need more challenge. Beyond reading books and writing texts, phrases by conversation in airport, in supermarket, in pharmacy, in stores, in street, etc. I´m sorry, and thank you.
